Style: Wedding Accessories
Matthew Mallinson looks at some beautiful and innovative ways to add a touch of individuality to your special wedding day from button bouquets to inventive favours for your guests.
Button Bouquets
If you want to stand out from the crowd and have something just that little bit different on your wedding day, consider a beautiful button bouquet. Most button bouquets are handmade using a combination of new and vintage buttons alongside brooches and bits of jewellery, making them a unique and colourful alternative to a traditional floral bouquet. The benefit of a button bouquet is that doesn’t spoil in the same way as a conventional bouquet. This allows it to be kept as a decoration for the home which you can even hand down as a beautiful family heirloom for generations to come. Available from Etsy.com but you can also make your own from buttons and brooches that hold a special meaning to you.
Feather Button Holes
To give your guests an individual style on your special day, consider using feather button holes rather than flowers. These feather button holes are a great alternative to the traditional flowers, being much longer lasting; while also giving a more distinctive look and feel. There are so many different types of feathers you can choose from as well, allowing you to alternate for each guest. These are quite easy to make yourself and by looking online you can get even the most exotic of feathers.
Wedding Favours
While chocolates and flowers make fantastic favours for your guests, they can be quite short-lived. By handing out plants, the memory of your day can live on in their home forever. Try to pick plants that aren’t too hassle to maintain, ensuring that your guests will be able to tend to them. Go for cactuses or herbs over complicated orchids. Can be bought from your local garden centre.
