Style: Monochrome
Monochrome is a trend that’s proving really big this season, mostly utilising a white and black colour scheme. Matthew Mallinson explores the best dresses to achieve this trend.
Frills and Lace
The Amanda dress from Darling perfectly captures the trend with an added touch of elegance, making it great for a casual or going-out look. It’s frilled skirt is combined with a soft chiffon bodice for a comfortable feel; the dress is finished with finely detailed eyelash lace.
Available for £69 at Devine, 2-3 Dorset Street, Sevenoaks
White Lace
With its full lace detail and tiered style this dress evokes the flapper girls of the 1920s, re-imagined with a modern edge. Form fitting, this dress carries a great deal of sex appeal making it perfect for a cocktail party. Cream or light pink details will work best with the pale colouring, adding a touch of colour without overpowering the dress
Available for £120 from Phase Eight
Neon Glow
We just love the Andrea dress from Beloved which adds a touch of brightness to a dark trend. With a drop-waist cut and a high collar this dress is totally on trend for the season; working well as a mixture of contrasts. Pair with black or white heels, as bright heels will detract from the neon glow of the dress’ lower half.
Available for £60 at Devine, 2-3 Dorset Street, Sevenoaks
